Fellow Microsoft Digital Media MVP, Diane Dumas, recently completed her car computer. Diane replaced the car stereo in a 1999 Buick Century with a 7-inch Xenarc monitor and managed to fit a CD drive sized computer running Windows XP Media Center Edition under the environmental controls. She offers a quick walkthrough of what she did over at the mp3car.com forums. I'm personally amazed at how the screen looks like it was meant to be there. If you've been thinking of doing something similar, consider this inspiration. I have a reasonably priced in-car video system through some simple hacking, but my car computer plans remain on the drawing board for the time being.
