Visting Chong Glass in August 2000
Posted on June 23rd, 2007 by Jake under LifeBack in August 2000, I visited Chong Glass in the Los Angeles suburb of Gardenia, California. I got to see the whole glass blowing process and even briefly chatted about the Web with Tommy Chong. Flash forward a few years and Tommy has completed a 9 month sentence in a plea bargain agreement for selling glass water pipes across state lines. The experience of having his home raided and serving time was captured in the documentary a/k/a Tommy Chong. I did an interview with the producer of the documentary last summer. I ran across the photos while looking for something else tonight and figured Flickr was as good a place as any to put them.

Goodness — what beautiful work. I’d like one of these, just to put on the coffee table with jelly beans inside.
The US has more people in prison per capita than any other country in the world. If I wasn’t so zoned out on prescription drugs, that would really make me think.
