Baseball, Beer, Travel, and Running

I need to join another social networking site like I need to have my right arm removed with a hack saw. The First Chapters Writing Contest has me on the verge of signing up for Gather, which is a requirement for entry in the contest. The site, in combination with Simon & Schuster are offering $5k and a book deal to one grand prize winner. I've been working on a novel in fits and starts for the past several years and I'm looking for a deadline that forces me to finish. A contest wouldn't be a bad idea. The full submission guidelines are posted at Gather. The only thing they don't provide is some indication of what the contract terms are for the book deal. For me, winning would be completing the book, whether I get the contract or not, but getting a book deal certainly wouldn't hurt.
