Feedburner Stats May be Flawed

by Jake on October 6, 2007

Via Dave Winer’s Twittering, I found out about a way people are gaming Feedburner subscriber counts. Italian blogger, Paolo Valdermarin provides additional details on how Feedburner subscriber stats are gamed, including a tool for boosting your own subscriber count. Seems the problem isn’t limited to gaming your own numbers, as TechCrunch ballooned to more than double their subscribers today. Hopefully someone at Feedburner is on the case and working to close this hole. For those of us who rely on advertising for revenue, accurate stats are vital.
