Not to be outdone by NBC offering free downloads, Fox recently announced plans to offer free downloads of the season premieres of many shows in the Fox television lineup. This seems like a more sensible move than the one made by NBC because at least the iTunes video format is reasonably standard at this point, while NBC will be doing yet another proprietary offering. Like NBC, Fox also makes a good portion of their programming available via Amazon Unbox, which isn't free, but offers features like downloading to Tivo.
