It's been awhile since I've given anything away and I'm feeling the URGE to handout some gadgets. As some of you remember I gave away an Xbox 360 back in January and I've had numerous software giveaways over the past several years. This time, I'm giving away an iRiver Clix and 2 million songs to play on it (via a year's subscription to MTV URGE All Access To Go). In total this stuff would cost you $350 if were to purchase it yourself.
Like the Xbox giveaway I'm keeping the rules very simple. All you need to do is tell people about JakeLudington.com. You can blog about something you find on the site. Link to a helpful article on your MySpace account. Make fun of me in your favorite forum. How you link is up to you. The official rules are posted here. On August 29, 2006, I'll assess the server stats for JakeLudington.com. If your post referred the most visitors based on my stats, you get an iRiver Clix and a one year subscription to URGE All Access To Go.
When I did the last giveaway I realized that some people are disadvantaged by having a smaller readership. To level the playing field, I'm also going to giveaway a second iRiver Clix and URGE All Access To Go subscription to one site drawn at random from all the sites referring traffic to JakeLudington.com between now and August 29, 2006. This means you have a shot at a free portable media player and tons of music even if you only have one reader.
For those that are experimenting with podcasting, the Clix has onboard voice recording, just like all the other iRiver devices, so you can record audio while you're on the go. There's an FM tuner so you can listen to the TV stations at the gym. It ships with several games and a handful of free music tracks from eMusic. And it handles some video and photos in addition to being a killer music player. And of course free never hurts - go forth and link.
Starting on Monday July 24, 2006 I'll be posting a round-up of the top 20 sites to this page and publishing a daily update via RSS, so stay tuned.
In an effort to level the playing field, here are a few rules:
1) Publicly traded companies are not eligible. Individuals employed by publicly traded companies are. The metric here is: does the blog belong to you or your company?
2) Search engines are not eligible. Individuals employed by search engines are. Competing against Yahoo or MSN Search just isn't fair to any one person.
3) If you blog for a community like Lockergnome, each individual blogger within the community will be counted separately. For instance, if you are one of several bloggers who all post to the same section on gaming, you won't be stuck time sharing an iRiver Clix with three other people. This adds a little more work for me, but you get a fair shot at acquiring the iRiver Clix.
4) Referrals will be counted in aggregate. For instance, if you happen to write about jakeludington.com/a.html one day and jakeludington.com/b.html two days later, the total referrals to both pages will be counted together for your total.
5) Shipping address of recipient must be in United States.
6) Winner will be selected by me based on my assessment of the server logs for JakeLudington.com.
P.S. Feel free to use the nofollow tag to your hearts content. I'm not looking for link love. I simply needed to set a traceable metric for choosing the recipient of the iRiver Clix and MTV URGE subscriptions.
