Time is running out to get in on the September giveaways. Ulead is graciously providing a copy of VideoStudio 8, PhotoImpact XL, or DVD Workshop Express to three individuals. VideoStudio 8 retails for $90, and is a great video editing app for turning home movies into something you'd be proud to share with friends and family. At $90, PhotoImpact XL is one of the most powerful imaging solutions this side of Photoshop, without the hefty price tag. The retail version includes about $200 in software as a bonus. DVD Workshop Express authors DVDs like a champ, costs about $149 at retail, and is almost as powerful as the pro-level DVD Workshop product. For my home movies, the Express version is all I would ever need. Make your forum post to get a shot at these great multimedia tools.
The other killer September giveaway is a combination hardware/software package from SnapStream. For the forum participant with the most posts in September, SnapStream is throwing down a Firefly PC Remote, the latest edition of Beyond TV (which is an outstanding app for home theater PC do-it-yourselfers), and a TV tuner to make it all work. I've tried the beta of the latest version of Beyond TV and it's a nice improvement on what was already a great home theater product. If you want to record TV with your PC, watch movies, manage your music and photos, but don't want to buy a whole new XP Media Center PC, I consider SnapStream the only alternative.
Audible.com is giving away a Creative MuVo portable media player and a 1 month free subscription to Audible to one lucky forum poster in the month of October. Like other newsletter giveaways, there are only two requirements: 1) be registered in our forums and 2) make at least one post during the giveaway period. Matt Hodges already received a Rio Chiba portable media player for his posting participation in the month of August, you could be next (if you post). Of course, if you want to guarantee getting a Creative MuVo, you could just sign up for Audible. As part of their membership commitment, Audible is offering a Creative MuVo to new members.
How could you be the lucky one? Just register in the forums and make at least one post in the month of September. Are your chances of getting something good? A resounding YES. Keep in mind, I reserve the right to throw out frivolous posts, so please ask a legit question or help someone answer their question.
If you tried to get to the Ender's Game audio book link in the previous issue and couldn't, here it is again. The newsletter publishing tool munged the URL somehow between posting and publishing.
